Post-harvest Assistant

We are on the hunt for a passionate and experienced Post-harvest Assistant to oversee and enhance our operational processes, ensuring our facility runs smoothly and efficiently. We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Post-harvest Assistant to oversee and enhance our operational processes, ensuring compliance with Infarmed regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in operations management, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement, specifically within the cannabis industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver samples to the lab.

  • Coordinate harvest operations in the greenhouses.

  • Work closely with cultivation and post-harvest teams and give them support when required.

  • Supervise the washing area and its activities.

  • Replace the Quality Control Coordinator when necessary (IPC analysis, sample preparation and management, sample delivery coordination).

  • Replace Post-Harvest Supervisor when necessary (harvest, drying, packaging, hand trim, cleaning, disinfection operations, paperwork, stock management, staff supervision, materials inventory etc).

  • Technical support in post-harvest (drying rooms software, hardware, other equipment).

  • Updating Monthly Plan for post-harvest.

  • Updating Maintenance plan.

  • Communication with the maintenance team to ensure the maintenance plan is followed.

  • Ensure proper use of all machinery and equipment.

  • Ensure that all the necessary materials needed to implement the maintenance plan, are purchased in a timely manner and in sufficient quantities.

  • Perform other tasks as requested by the Operations Manager in addition to the above list.

  • Liaise with Post-Harvest and Cultivation teams on the correct stage for harvest.

  • Organise product dispatches.

  • Make sure that have all the necessary materials for dispatches: pallets, boxes, bags, labels, wrapping material, and data-loggers.

  • Perform the loading of secure transport vehicles.

  • Assess the efficiency of employees, and report to their manager how can improve it.

  • Report, analyse and archive weekly and monthly graphs from Processing and storage rooms. Perform correction actions if needed.

  • Maintain integrity of cleaning control of the rooms, common areas, tools and equipment.

  • Assure that health and safety procedures are according to Gro-Vida policies and guidelines, and report any unsafe activities to the area manager.

  • Cooperate with other departments to achieve both internal and external customer satisfaction.

  • Supervise daily operations of the facility, ensuring compliance with company policies and industry regulations.

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of production staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.

  • Process Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, productivity, and quality of operations.

  • Quality Control: Work closely with the quality assurance team to ensure all products meet the highest standards of safety and efficacy.

  • Oversee inventory levels, ensuring adequate supply of materials and proper storage of products.

  • Ensure all operations adhere to health and safety regulations, conducting regular inspections and training sessions.

  • Maintain accurate records of production metrics and provide regular reports to senior management.

  • Address operational issues promptly and effectively, implementing corrective actions as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Fluent in English and Portuguese.

  • Proven experience in operations management, preferably within the cannabis industry or a related field.

  • Strong leadership and team management skills.

  • Excellent organisational and problem-solving abilities.

  • Knowledge of industry regulations and quality standards.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Proficiency in using operational software and tools.
